Marie Connole is a visual artist, illustrator and teacher based in Co. Clare, Ireland.
Her studio practice combines drawing, painting, installation and animation. She works through highly personal thematic content involving storytelling, the subconscious, and the natural world.
Recent work investigates the specific cultural accent of the customs and folklore of her home place in the West of Ireland. The artist focus is on developing a personal legacy in a contemporary context.
Collaborative projects include Re-possesion, selected for eva International 2012 (www.eva.ie). Aughty Public Art Projects, curated by Dr. Áine Phillips, and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Clare County Arts Office and Galway County Council. Awards include the Kilkenny Arts Office residency(2008), SIM - the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, in Reykjavík (2008) and the Tyrone Guthrie Residency(2011).
Her work features in the collections of AXA Insurance, Wesley College Dublin, National University of Ireland Galway, Galway County Council, Clare County Arts Office and the Kilkenny Arts Office. She has exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland, Draiocht, Tulca, and internationally.
