Opening the Portal: Immrama to the Otherworld explores the traditional cultural narratives that have shaped the coastal margins of County Clare. The central theme is the metaphorical journey to the legendary village of Kilstipheen, said to lie at the bottom of Liscannor Bay.
Marie Connole is a visual artist, illustrator and teacher whose practice explores the influence of culture and human form on the psyche by re-working sacred iconography and archetypal symbolism. The artists' work has featured in eva International, the National Gallery of Ireland, Tulca and the Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin.
In 2017 Connole held a six-month solo exhibition at the Irish Arts Center, New York.
